Taylor Swift has clinched the global recording artist of the year award for the fourth time, as announced by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The prestigious accolade, which Swift also secured in 2014, 2019, and last year, recognizes her as the top-selling artist worldwide in 2023.
The IFPI determines the winner by considering an artist’s global sales across streaming, downloads, and physical music formats throughout the year, encompassing their entire body of work. Taylor Swift has consistently topped the IFPI Global Artist Chart for the past 11 years, showcasing her enduring global popularity.
Lewis Morrison, the director of charts and certifications at IFPI, praised Swift, stating, “She continues to redefine the limits of global success. Taylor is a singular talent, and her commitment to her craft and her fans is truly phenomenal.”
In a noteworthy achievement for K-Pop, SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids secured the second and third positions, marking a “record year for Korean artists,” according to IFPI. Additionally, TOMORROW X TOGETHER and NewJeans claimed spots in the top 10, alongside international stars Drake and The Weeknd. Earlier this month, Swift made history at the Grammy Awards by winning the album of the year for the fourth time.
