Renowned journalist and filmmaker, Reham Khan, is set to make a splash in the world of cinema once again with her upcoming Pakistani-Punjabi film, “Cheema, Chattha, and Bajwa.”
Khan made the announcement during her appearance at a Podcast, revealing her return to filmmaking after the success of her 2016 hit, “Janaan,” which focused on child abuse in the Swat Valley and garnered an impressive PKR30 Crore at the box office.
“Cheema, Chattha, and Bajwa” will explore the lives of Punjabis settled abroad in countries like Canada and the UK. This theme, often explored in Indian Punjabi films, aims to showcase the vibrant culture of the Pakistani Punjabi diaspora. Khan, who is also claiming a writer’s credit for the film, expressed her desire for the Pakistani Punjabi community to gain global recognition akin to their Indian counterparts.
While the story is nearly complete, the casting process is still underway to find the “perfect Pakistani Punjabi hero,” approximately 26-27 years old. Although no release date has been confirmed, “Cheema, Chattha, and Bajwa” is expected to be an international release for Pakistani cinema, contributing to the growing success of Punjabi films both locally and across borders.
