Govt declares Gwadar a ‘disaster zone’ amid heavy rains

The caretaker Balochistan government imposed an emergency in Gwadar and declared it a disaster zone after heavy rains triggered devastating flash floods in the coastal city.

In a statement, Balochistan caretaker Information Jan Achakzai said the provincial government had decided to declare Gwadar calamity-hit and impose an emergency, acknowledging the severity of the situation. Pakistan Navy has initiated relief operations to assist the population affected by recent devastating rains and flooding in Gwadar.

Navy personnel, along with local administration, are actively engaged in draining floodwaters from homes and streets across different areas of the city. Navy ships, divers, and mobile medical teams are on standby to handle any emergency situations that may arise.

Young sailors of Pakistan Navy are collaborating with civil administration to expedite the restoration of roads, ensuring uninterrupted relief efforts.

Navy teams are distributing food items, drinking water, and rations to flood-affected individuals in various areas of Gwadar. In addition to ration distribution, local flood victims are also receiving medical assistance from Pakistan Navy.

Medical teams of Pakistan Navy are providing free treatment and medicines at medical camps established for flood-affected locals. Pakistan Navy has always been at the forefront during natural disasters, providing relief efforts.

Pakistan Navy remains committed to continuing rescue and relief operations until complete rehabilitation of all affected individuals in Gwadar.
