Aurat March, Pakistan’s annual feminist movement, has unveiled its plans for the upcoming event at Frere Hall, the iconic venue that witnessed the first two marches in 2018 and 2019. Organizers took to Instagram, expressing enthusiasm for returning to the venue that has become a hub for progressive movements.
This year, the Aurat March introduces an “Ehtejaji Mela” alongside the traditional march, aiming to foster discussions on class, gender, ethnicity, and religion. The Mela provides a platform for engaging with political art that prompts reflection on social issues, while also redefining leisure as a feminist way of life.
In a unique addition, working-class women will run food stalls at the event, ensuring affordability for attendees of all financial backgrounds.
