On the 21st day of the ongoing Delhi Chalo march by farmers in India, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has set certain conditions, expressing opposition to the BJP and its allies. Notably, the farmers have called for a Rail Roko movement nationwide on March 10, vowing to persist until their demands are met. They urged Punjab’s panchayats to support their cause.
Despite efforts by the Indian government to halt the march, farmers from across the country are determined to reach Delhi on March 6 using various modes of transportation. The Wire reported a plea to the Supreme Court, urging an end to the use of pellet guns against farmers due to alleged human rights violations.
Concerns have been raised regarding the suspension of Twitter accounts, seen as a troubling crackdown on freedom of expression by human rights organizations and affected individuals. Additionally, Haryana police has reportedly canceled visas of protesting farmers.
In response, farmer unions are calling for an expansion of the protest beyond Punjab. As the Delhi Chalo march continues, the farmers remain steadfast in their quest for the fulfillment of their demands.
