In a solemn observance today, Pakistan entertainment industry marks the first death anniversary of the esteemed veteran actor, Qavi Khan. Beginning his journey as a child star at Radio Pakistan Peshawar, Khan’s illustrious career spanned over five decades, leaving an indelible mark on Pakistan’s entertainment landscape.
Joining Pakistan Television in 1964, Qavi Khan quickly became one of its early stars. His artistic brilliance shone through in every medium – television, theatre, and radio. “Lakhon Mein Aik” marked his professional debut, while “Andhera Ujala” catapulted him to nationwide fame.
Venturing into the film industry in 1965, Khan’s cinematic contributions included memorable works like ‘Mauhabbat Zindagi Hai,’ ‘Chand Suraj,’ ‘Sarfarosh,’ ‘Kalay Chor,’ and ‘Zameen Asman.’
The government recognized Khan’s exceptional service to the country and the showbiz industry by bestowing upon him the Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz awards. Tragically, on May 5, 2023, Khan breathed his last in Canada at the age of 80.
