General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (#COAS), graced the rollout ceremony of Pakistan’s new HAIDER tank at Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT). Serving as the chief guest, General Munir visited the ceremony, which was also attended by the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China, officials from Chinese state company NORINCO, high-ranking Government of Pakistan officials, and military and civilian representatives from HIT.
The HAIDER tank, a collaborative effort between HIT and NORINCO China, was unveiled during the event. This indigenously manufactured tank boasts cutting-edge technology, showcasing remarkable firepower, protection, and manoeuvre capabilities in the realm of tank warfare. The collaboration signifies the Pakistani defence industry’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
During the ceremony, General Munir received a detailed briefing on the technical prowess of the HAIDER tank and the ongoing efforts to achieve indigenization in arms and armament. The COAS also took the opportunity to explore other manufacturing facilities within the Heavy Industrial Complex, commending the dedication of officers and the workforce for reaching another technological milestone.
The ceremony marked a momentous occasion, highlighting Pakistan’s strides in advancing its defence capabilities and fostering international collaborations. The COAS was warmly received by the Chairman of HIT upon his arrival.
