The Punjab cabinet has been sworn in today. Marriyum Aurangzeb has taken on a crucial role as a senior minister, entrusted with planning and development, wildlife, and environment portfolios. The nod for these appointments comes from PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.
Other key figures include Azma Bukhari as the Minister of Information, Tahir Khalil Sindhu focusing on human rights, and Ramesh Singh leading the Ministry of Minority Affairs to address the concerns of minority communities. The cabinet is a diverse mix of expertise, with Faisal Khokhar in charge of sports, Bilal Akbar overseeing transport affairs, and Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir heading specialized and primary healthcare, respectively.
Education falls under the purview of Rana Sikandar Hayat, while Sohaib Berth takes on communication and works. The cabinet also features Ashiq Hussain Kirmani for agriculture, Zeeshan Rafique for local governments, Bilal Yasin for food, and Kazim Pirzada managing irrigation. Sher Ali Gorchani is appointed to lead the Ministry of Mines and Minerals.
Rana Sanaullah, Pervaiz Rasheed, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, and Rana Ishaq Hayat are expected to join, and members from PML-Q and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party may also be included. The swearing-in ceremony for 18 ministers and special assistants took place at Governor House in Lahore, marking a significant step in shaping Punjab’s political landscape.
