Rani Durgavati University in Jabalpur faced a peculiar situation as students alleged that the university “forgot” to conduct MSc Computer Science first-semester exams on the scheduled date of March 5, 2024. Despite issuing a date sheet and admit cards, the university apparently forgot to organize the examinations, leaving 10 students in a state of confusion.
Protesting students took their concerns to the university’s Vice Chancellor, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of prior information about the cancellation. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) criticized the university for not informing students in advance, leading to unnecessary problems.
Following the uproar, the Vice Chancellor ordered an investigation into the irregularity. The university, which had released the timetable for various courses on February 14, rescheduled the MSc Computer Science first-semester exam for ‘Computer Organization and Assembly Language’ to March 15.
The Registrar, Deepesh Mishra, cited an error in the question paper as the reason for the sudden cancellation. He mentioned that an explanation has been sought from the examination department’s officials in response to the students’ complaint. The incident has caused inconvenience to students who had traveled from different districts for the exams.
