The New York City Police Department (NYPD) hosted the first-ever ‘Pakistan Heritage and Resolution Month’ at its headquarters, celebrating the contributions of Pakistani-American law enforcement officers. The event was graced by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, Mayor Eric L Adams, and other dignitaries.
Ambassador Khan praised the remarkable performance of over 600 police officers of Pakistani descent in the NYPD and around 1,000 across the US, emphasizing the deepening bonds between Pakistan and the United States. The ceremony, attended by NYPD officials and the Pakistani diaspora, marked a significant milestone in honoring the heritage of Pakistani officers.
Mayor Adams commended the dedication of Pakistani officers in keeping New York City safe, pledging continued support for the community’s endeavors. Ambassador Khan disclosed plans for a Sister City relationship between New York and Karachi, showcasing the enduring ties between the nations.
The event also recognized the humanitarian efforts of the Pakistani American Law Enforcement Society (PALS), with awards presented for outstanding performance. Ambassador Khan applauded PALS for its services, particularly during floods in Pakistan, where they sent relief goods worth approximately US$1 million.
The ceremony exemplified the strong collaboration and friendship between the NYPD and Pakistan, underscoring the contributions of the Pakistani community to the progress and security of the United States.
