Pakistan Railways has just unveiled its longest freight train ever, marking a big step forward for the country’s rail system. This impressive train stretches a whopping 2,500 feet long and has 50 bogies, which are like the carriages on a train.
What’s really cool is that it’s powered by a super engine called the GEU 40, which is known for being really strong. This massive freight train kicked off its first trip from Karachi, loaded up with over 3,000 tonnes of stuff headed for Kotri. And get this—it hit a top speed of 60 km/h and cruised along at an average of 38 km/h.
The amount of stuff this train can carry is mind-blowing. It’s like having 94 huge trucks all packed into one train! Not only does this make moving goods way more efficient, but it also takes some pressure off the roads, which is great for cutting down on pollution.
This new freight train is a big deal because it shows how much potential there is for using trains to move things around Pakistan. With the country’s extensive rail network, this kind of innovation could make shipping goods across the country easier, cheaper, and better for the environment.
