After a gap of two decades, Pakistan is gearing up to host an exciting cricket tri-series, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following a fruitful meeting between Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and counterparts from South Africa and New Zealand.
In a statement released by the PCB, it was revealed that the discussion centered on organizing an ODI tri-series involving the three nations, scheduled for February 2025 in Pakistan, just before the ICC Champions Trophy.
The decision to hold the tri-series was met with enthusiasm from all parties involved, with Naqvi extending a warm invitation for his counterparts to visit Pakistan.
Expressing his anticipation for the upcoming event, Naqvi highlighted the significance of Pakistan hosting such a tournament after a considerable hiatus. He thanked the heads of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) for their agreement to participate in the tri-series.
Furthermore, Naqvi emphasized the PCB’s eagerness to also host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, a prestigious tournament featuring the top eight ODI teams.
The last time Pakistan hosted a tri-series was back in October 2004, featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe as visiting teams.
