Pakistan’s hopes for qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026 took a hard hit as they suffered a 3-0 defeat against Jordan in the Asian qualifiers. The match, held at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad, saw Jordan’s Musa Al-Taamari scoring twice and Ali Olwan adding another goal for their team.
Despite a strong start by Jordan with two quick goals within the first 10 minutes, Pakistan’s defense held firm, preventing further goals. However, this defeat marks Pakistan’s third consecutive loss in the qualifiers, leaving them at the bottom of Group G with zero points.
Jordan, on the other hand, sits in third place with four points. The upcoming away fixture in Jordan poses a significant challenge for Pakistan, scheduled for March 26.
For Pakistan to keep their World Cup dreams alive, they must secure victories in their remaining three matches against Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan.
The squads for both teams include key players like Musa Al-Taamari for Jordan and Yousuf Butt for Pakistan. With the pressure mounting, Pakistan’s national team will need to regroup and strategize for the upcoming crucial matches to stay in contention for the World Cup spot.
