A tragic incident recently happened in Russia as Gunmen opened fire at a concert venue in the outskirts of Moscow, Russia, resulting in the loss of 60 precious lives and over 145 injured. The attack occurred just before the Soviet-era rock group “Picnic” was set to perform at the Crocus City Hall to a full house.
Witnesses described chaos as shots rang out, causing panic and a stampede among concertgoers. The attackers targeted the crowd, leading to a devastating toll on those in attendance.
The banned military group claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that its fighters had carried out the assault before retreating to safety. However, Russian authorities have not confirmed the perpetrators.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the situation by security officials, including the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB). Investigations revealed evidence such as Kalashnikov automatic weapons and spent bullet casings at the scene.
The United States confirmed intelligence indicating banned organization’s involvement and stated that they had warned Russia about the possibility of such an incident in recent weeks.
The assault comes amid heightened security concerns, with the US embassy in Russia previously issuing a warning about potential extremist threats in Moscow.
The international community, including the United Nations Security Council, has condemned the attack as a “heinous and cowardly act.”
