Kangana Ranaut, the well-known Indian actor and filmmaker, has taken a leap into politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and announcing her candidacy for the Lok Sabha from her home state of Himachal Pradesh. This move comes after her consistent support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hints about venturing into politics.
Ranaut expressed her gratitude and commitment to the BJP through social media, stating that she feels honored and excited to officially join the party. She pledged her unwavering support and declared her readiness to serve as a dedicated member and public servant.
Known for her portrayal of strong female characters in unconventional films, Ranaut has garnered acclaim for her roles in movies like “Gangster” and “Queen.” She has previously voiced her admiration for Prime Minister Modi, citing him as a fitting role model due to his humble beginnings and ascent to power.
With her background in cinema and her outspoken advocacy, Ranaut’s foray into politics adds a new dimension to her public persona. Her decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh signals a significant shift in her career trajectory.
However, after 2015, the actor’s projects turned into a string of commercial failures. Launching her own production company in 2020, Ranaut became well-known for her controversial right-wing stance, reflected in the political trajectory her career has taken to date.
