In the wake of recent security concerns surrounding the construction of various dam projects in Pakistan, there’s a glimmer of hope shining bright at the Mohmand Dam site. Despite temporary suspensions at other dam projects due to safety worries, work at the Mohmand Dam continues steadfastly, with Chinese engineers maintaining their dedication to the project.
Amidst a backdrop of unfortunate events, including a recent attack claiming the lives of Chinese engineers at the Dasu Dam, the resolute spirit of progress persists at Mohmand. As the Dasu and Diamer-Bhasha Dam sites see temporary halts in construction activities, the Mohmand Dam stands as a beacon of resilience, with work proceeding smoothly.
Mr. Asim Rauf, the General Manager of Mohmand Dam, affirmed that around 250 Chinese engineers remain committed to advancing the project, undeterred by recent challenges. Expressing satisfaction with the security measures in place, the Chinese workforce continues their valuable contributions to the dam’s development.
The significance of this ongoing effort cannot be overstated. Once completed, the Mohmand Dam promises to bring about transformative change, generating 740 megawatts of hydroelectric power, facilitating irrigation across vast acres of land, and mitigating the risk of downstream flooding.
Despite the setbacks encountered elsewhere, the perseverance exhibited at the Mohmand Dam site serves as a testament to the unwavering determination to forge ahead, ensuring a brighter, more sustainable future for Pakistan.
