Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to embark on a significant two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, commencing Saturday night. The primary agenda of his visit includes performing Umrah and engaging in crucial discussions with Saudi Arabian officials, including a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah.
Sources suggest that PM Shehbaz will utilize this opportunity to discuss various projects of mutual interest between the two countries. Additionally, he plans to extend an invitation to the Crown Prince to visit Pakistan.
During his stay, both nations are anticipated to finalize several development projects and strengthen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, notably agriculture. Sources indicate that Saudi Arabia is poised to invest $1 billion in the Reko Diq project.
The detailed itinerary for the Prime Minister’s visit, alongside federal ministers and senior officials, is expected to be finalized today, ahead of departure. Before leaving, PM Shehbaz intends to consult with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif in Lahore.
This visit marks Prime Minister Shehbaz’s inaugural official trip to Saudi Arabia since assuming office in March. Notably, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki will be returning to his home country to receive the Prime Minister, signifying the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
