PTI leaders take oath on Qur’an amidst speculations of internal rifts

In response to mounting speculations of internal discord within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, its leaders have reportedly taken a solemn oath on the Holy Quran to cease infighting and maintain confidentiality regarding decisions made in the party’s core and political apex committees. Sources revealed this development to Geo News.

Amid directives from the party’s top brass to refrain from commenting on PTI chief’s messages and internal disputes, tensions within the party escalated as several core committee members raised concerns over leadership decisions.

The friction intensified when PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan relayed messages from the incarcerated PTI founder to Omar Ayub Khan and Shibli Faraz. To quell these tensions, party leaders took an oath on the Holy Quran.

Speaking via video link to a PTI gathering, Gohar expressed skepticism about whether this oath would prevent the leakage of sensitive discussions among party members. He urged PTI leaders to assess the situation following the imprisonment of the party founder, Imran Khan, and emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline by keeping party decisions confidential.

Addressing concerns about Bushra Bibi’s health, Gohar demanded authorities allow her medical examination at Shaukat Khanum Hospital to investigate allegations of poisoning during her detention. He stressed that her health should not be politicized.

Gohar also criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), accusing it of failing to fulfill its constitutional duties and converting PTI’s electoral victories into defeats.

Regarding Shehryar Afridi’s public discontent with leadership decisions, Gohar acknowledged Afridi’s sacrifices and urged him to address grievances through appropriate party channels.

Furthermore, Gohar announced that decisions regarding politicians who announced their departure from PTI would be made by Imran Khan upon his release from jail.

Afridi’s Allegations:
Speculations about internal conflicts heightened following statements by PTI stalwart Shehryar Afridi, who accused some party members of hypocrisy and betrayal during a public gathering in Kohat. Afridi’s remarks came after his application for a Senator’s seat was rejected by PTI’s senior leadership.

The tensions within PTI were further underscored by a social media spat between Sher Afzal Marwat and Salman Ahmad, close associates of Khan, highlighting the escalating divisions within the party.
