Over 500 horses butchered in Wagga Wagga Australia

In a startling revelation, authorities in Wagga Wagga, Australia, have uncovered a gruesome slaughterhouse where over 500 horses were reportedly butchered, with their remains discarded in various locations, including a dry creek bed.

The Wagga Wagga city council issued a statement confirming the disturbing find, stating that upon inspecting the property, it became evident that horse slaughtering had been ongoing for an extended period. The clandestine operations were allegedly conducted at a private property, prompting swift action from law enforcement and city officials.

An investigation, spearheaded by the New South Wales Police and city council, was initiated, with offenses likely to be prosecuted under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act.

During the investigation, authorities discovered numerous dumpsites scattered across the property, containing the remains of more than 500 horses. The carcasses varied in condition, ranging from skeletal remains to those recently slaughtered.

Wagga councillors were reportedly briefed on the shocking findings, including the identification of a cool room containing horse meat at the property.

The operator of the property, however, disputed the claims, asserting that the number of horse carcasses was grossly exaggerated. According to Guardian Australia, the operator claimed that only 15 to 20 carcasses were present, intended for pet food production. Additionally, the operator admitted to conducting a brumby rehoming operation, suggesting that the deceased horses were those deemed unfit for rehoming.

The investigation into this disturbing discovery is ongoing as authorities gather evidence for potential legal action. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for stricter regulations to prevent such atrocities against animals in the future.
