In a significant diplomatic engagement, Chief of the Turkish General Staff, General Metin Gürak, held discussions with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, during his visit to Pakistan, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The meeting primarily focused on the augmentation of bilateral military engagements and cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan. Both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening strategic ties during the interaction.
Acknowledging the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces, General Gürak praised their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism.
Upon his arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, General Gürak was accorded a guard of honour by a contingent of the Pakistani armed forces, symbolizing the mutual respect and camaraderie between the two nations.
Later in the day, General Gürak also met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at GHQ, where discussions ranged from defense collaboration to initiatives aimed at fostering regional peace and stability. Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing existing military cooperation to address evolving security challenges effectively.
General Gürak paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistani armed forces by laying a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada monument upon his arrival at GHQ. The visit concluded with a guard of honour presented by a well-disciplined contingent of the Pakistan Army.
