Pakistan to have $3 trillion economy by 2047

In a keynote address at the Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit 2024, Federal Minister for Planning and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal unveiled Pakistan’s ambitious economic vision, aiming to propel the nation towards a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

Highlighting the roadmap to this goal, Minister Iqbal emphasized the necessity of bolstering public-private collaboration and implementing a more streamlined regulatory framework. He stressed that Pakistan aims for a robust 9% growth rate to realize this objective, citing the favorable climate for international investments, with substantial commitments from key partners like China and Saudi Arabia.

Addressing an audience of business leaders, Minister Iqbal underscored the indispensable role of government-private sector synergy in fostering economic expansion. He advocated for the establishment of comprehensive ecosystems within business clusters to optimize value chains and promote sustainable value addition. Drawing inspiration from economic success stories such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia, he highlighted the importance of trading houses in facilitating the global market integration of local products.

In line with the imperative of enhancing Pakistan’s business competitiveness on a global scale, Minister Iqbal announced forthcoming measures aimed at alleviating regulatory burdens on the private sector. These initiatives are expected to create a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive and contribute to the nation’s economic growth trajectory.
