In a surprising turn of events, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) appointed Sahibzada Hamid Raza from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) as the new chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday. This decision came after earlier speculation had suggested Sher Afzal Marwat as the potential nominee for the position.
Sources close to the matter revealed that despite initial considerations of Sher Afzal Marwat, the PTI founder decided to consult with party leadership before finalizing the nomination. Subsequently, Sahibzada Hamid Raza was chosen for the esteemed role. The PTI founder has reportedly issued instructions to Omar Ayub regarding this appointment.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) holds a pivotal role in ensuring transparency and accountability within various governmental entities, including ministries, divisions, and public sector organizations. Established on May 20, 1948, the PAC remains instrumental in scrutinizing financial matters and upholding governance standards across Pakistan.
This latest development signifies a strategic decision by the PTI founder to entrust the leadership of the PAC to Sahibzada Hamid Raza, indicating potential shifts in the party’s approach towards oversight and accountability measures within the government.
