PM thanks COAS for helping eliminate smuggling

In a solemn visit to the family of slain Customs inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi in Abbottabad on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating the menace of smuggling and fostering a peaceful nation.

Inspector Tirmizi lost his life in the line of duty while combating smugglers in Dera Ismail Khan, a sacrifice that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged as heroic and deeply mourned. Accompanied by federal ministers Attaullah Tarar and Amir Muqam, the Prime Minister presented a cheque from the Shuhada Package to the grieving family, offering prayers and condolences.

During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the vital importance of curbing smuggling to bolster the nation’s economy.

Expressing gratitude to Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir for the Pakistan Army’s support in combating smuggling, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured that all available resources would be mobilized to eradicate this threat.

In recognition of Inspector Tirmizi’s sacrifice, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed him as a national hero and pledged that his bravery would not be forgotten. He announced the extension of the Shuhada Package to the federal level, detailing significant financial support for the families of martyrs.

Sepoys’ families would receive Rs13.5 million for housing, along with a Rs10 million cash prize, while inspectors’ families would be granted Rs15 million in cash and Rs25 million for housing. Additionally, families of martyrs would benefit from free health and education services.
