Khalsa Movement intensifies in Canada

Khalsa Day celebrations in Canada have taken on heightened significance this year, serving as a platform to amplify the Khalistan movement and draw international attention to Sikh rights. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s active involvement in Sikh community events during these celebrations has underscored his support for the Sikh community and their cause.

In the wake of the celebrations, condemnation has been directed towards the Indian government, particularly regarding its alleged actions against Sikhs. Anti-Modi slogans and displays of solidarity with the Khalistan movement were prominent features of the gatherings, reflecting growing discontent with the Indian administration among sections of the Sikh diaspora.

The Modi government’s response to these developments has been swift and assertive. In a move indicative of escalating tensions, the Indian government summoned the Canadian ambassador to seek clarification on Trudeau’s stance and the perceived support for what they term as “extremist activities” on Canadian soil.

India’s reaction has been characterized by accusations of Trudeau inciting violence and extremism, while the Canadian Prime Minister’s unwavering support for the Khalistan movement has only exacerbated the diplomatic strain between the two nations.

Trudeau’s participation in Khalsa Movement events has been interpreted as a rebuke to Indian policies, signaling Canada’s solidarity with the Sikh community and its disapproval of alleged atrocities committed against them. The events have sent a clear message to India that Canada stands firmly with Sikhs in their pursuit of justice, particularly in cases such as that of Hardeep Singh Nagar.
