In a bid to address concerns over the performance of the national women’s cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a novel approach – sending the team to the Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul for an intensive fitness training camp.
The decision comes on the heels of the team’s lackluster performance in recent T20 and ODI series against the West Indies, where they faced a whitewash in the ODI series and managed to secure only three wins out of five T20I matches. The disappointing results have prompted PCB officials to take proactive measures to improve the team’s capabilities.
Speaking to local media, a PCB official highlighted the necessity of addressing fitness concerns within the team, emphasizing the need for players to be at their physical peak to compete effectively at the international level.
This marks the first instance of women cricketers being sent to the military academy for such training, indicating a shift towards unconventional methods to enhance the team’s performance.
According to reports, the fitness training camp at Kakul will run concurrently with the team’s regular skills camp, with players expected to be rotated between the two camps to ensure comprehensive development.
