In a bid to boost morale and incentivize performance, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced a lucrative reward for the national cricket team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Each player stands to pocket a handsome $100,000 should they clinch victory in the upcoming tournament slated to kick off in June.
The announcement was made during a luncheon hosted by Naqvi for the Pakistan cricket team at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, just before the team’s departure for their tours of Ireland and England. As the players gear up for their rigorous schedule, which includes a three-day training camp starting May 6 and subsequent matches in Ireland and England, Naqvi’s words aimed to instill confidence and unity within the squad.
Addressing the players, Naqvi emphasized playing with passion and dedication, urging them to focus solely on representing their country. “Don’t care about anyone. Play only for Pakistan,” he urged, underlining the significance of teamwork and determination on the field. Expressing the nation’s high hopes, Naqvi conveyed his confidence in the team’s abilities, urging them to bring home glory.
Moreover, Naqvi assured the players of addressing any challenges they might encounter, promising to prioritize their concerns. In a gesture of recognition, special jerseys were presented to wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Naseem Shah for their outstanding achievements in the T20 format.
The squad, comprising seasoned players including captain Babar Azam, is set to embark on their tour of Ireland, where they will engage in a three-match T20I series from May 10 to May 14. Subsequently, they will proceed to England for a four-match T20I series beginning on May 22.
