In a significant move aimed at combating climate change, the United States has pledged its support to Pakistan in reducing methane gas emissions, marking a collaborative effort between the two nations to address environmental challenges.
The commitment was announced on Tuesday during an event aligned with the USAID Climate Financing, where US Ambassador Blome emphasized the urgency of curbing methane emissions, particularly in the dairy farming sector. “We are making all-out efforts to reduce the emission of methane gas in dairy farming. In Pakistan, this project will be presented to the Green Climate Fund for financing,” stated Ambassador Blome.
Highlighting the broader international goals, Ambassador Blome stressed the importance of reducing global temperatures by 1 degree Celsius by 2030, underscoring the partnership between the United States and Pakistan within the framework of the US-Pakistan Green Alliance. He further emphasized the necessity of providing stakeholders with the requisite financial and technical resources to address environmental challenges effectively.
Echoing the sentiments, Federal Secretary Dr. Fakhre Alam reaffirmed the Pakistani government’s commitment to bolstering the livestock sector and enhancing production capabilities in dairy farming to mitigate environmental risks.
