As the nation commemorates the solemn anniversary of the May 9 tragedy, families of the martyrs still grapple with heartache and indignation over the events that unfolded a year ago.
In a poignant gathering, relatives of the fallen soldiers gathered with teary eyes to express their sentiments about the devastating incident that shook the nation to its core.
“May 9 should never have happened. The desecration of military installations and memorials of our beloved martyrs is unforgivable,” lamented the son of Major Hilal Ahmad, one of the fallen heroes.
The sentiment echoed through the testimonies of other bereaved family members. “My father’s sacrifice should not have been in vain. Seeing the mockery of his memory is unbearable,” remarked the daughter of Captain Hafiz Islam Shaheed.
The anguish and pride intertwined as families recounted the sacrifices made by their loved ones for the nation. “Our son died for this country, and we are immensely proud of his martyrdom,” expressed the father of Lance Naik Imdad Ali Shaheed.
The solemn occasion also sparked calls for justice, with demands for severe punishment for those responsible for the desecration. “I strongly condemn the attack on the Martyrs Memorial. Those involved must face the consequences,” emphasized Lance Naik Imdad Ali Shaheed’s father.
The commemoration served not only as a moment of reflection but also as a testament to the resilience and determination of the families to uphold the honor and memory of their fallen heroes.
