Qatari minister expresses interest in deepening ties, exploring investment in Pakistan

In a significant diplomatic encounter, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan welcomed Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz, Qatar’s minister of state for foreign affairs, along with his delegation at Prime Minister House on Thursday. The meeting underscored the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties between the two nations while emphasizing the potential for fostering a robust economic partnership.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to elevating the bilateral relationship with Qatar to new heights, particularly in the realms of trade and investment. “Joint efforts should continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade and investment,” remarked PM Sharif, reflecting on the mutual benefits such collaboration could yield.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Sharif expressed hope for Qatar’s increased investment in Pakistan’s priority sectors and assured the delegation of the government’s unwavering support through the Special Investment Facilitation Council. This council aims to streamline processes and provide necessary facilities to investors, facilitating a conducive environment for economic growth.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif extended warm regards to the leadership of Qatar, reaffirming Pakistan’s keenness to fortify ties with the Gulf nation across various domains. In response, Dr. Abdul Aziz conveyed a special message from Qatar’s leadership, expressing a strong desire to deepen relations and explore new avenues of investment in Pakistan.

Dr. Abdul Aziz, serving as the envoy of Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister, reiterated Qatar’s steadfast commitment to nurturing closer ties with Pakistan, reflecting the mutual intention of both nations to bolster their partnership.

The visit of Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz also included a meeting at the Foreign Ministry, where he was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. Reflecting on the longstanding bilateral relations, a spokesperson from the Foreign Office highlighted the broad-based nature of the ties between Pakistan and Qatar.

The diplomatic exchange between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz underscores the shared commitment of Pakistan and Qatar to deepen cooperation and explore avenues for enhanced collaboration, particularly in the economic sphere.
