Hollywood to produce movie showcasing Pakistani culture

In a groundbreaking announcement, Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, declared earlier this week that a Hollywood production crew would be arriving in Pakistan to produce a global movie showcasing the country’s vibrant culture.

The team, comprising esteemed members such as Mashal Saqib, Luisa Iskin, Andrew James Fiero, Sadia Ashraf, Badr Ikram, and James MC Milan, convened to discuss the progress of the film and explore the depths of Pakistani heritage.

According to Minister Tarar, this Hollywood production will mark a significant milestone for Pakistan’s cinema sector. He expressed profound gratitude to the Hollywood crew for choosing to spotlight Pakistani culture, stating, “It is a great honor for our culture and people.” Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s wealth of rich heritage, encompassing its history, literature, music, and art, which are revered globally.

Highlighting the government’s efforts to revitalize the film sector, Tarar mentioned the exclusive tax amnesty granted to the industry, crediting the administration under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif for reinstating the film policy. The industry’s elevated status aims to incentivize youth participation and promote career opportunities within the film sector.

In a bid to stimulate growth, filmmakers have been granted a five-year tax exemption, alongside tax waivers for new theaters, production companies, and film museums. Moreover, incentives have been extended to international filmmakers engaging in collaborative projects with local producers, including the stipulation that 70% of the film be shot in Pakistan, thus bolstering commercial ventures and promoting tourism.

Anticipation runs high among the movie’s collaborators, who foresee it as a gateway to unveil Pakistan’s diversity and splendor on a global stage. With the movie’s premiere, the hope is to dispel misconceptions and portray Pakistan in a new light, shifting away from perceptions of radicalism.

Despite prevailing political turbulence and security concerns, the Hollywood production crew expressed appreciation for their visit, commending Minister Tarar for his support and gracious hospitality. They lauded Pakistan’s rich cultural tapestry and its people for inspiring them, affirming their commitment to nurturing the local film industry’s growth.

Minister Tarar pledged unwavering assistance and cooperation from the government to facilitate the Hollywood production team’s endeavors, underscoring Pakistan’s burgeoning potential in filmmaking and its steadfast dedication to supporting the industry’s expansion.
