In a significant move aimed at bolstering security measures within the esteemed halls of Pakistan’s legislative body, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has taken decisive action by imposing a ban on the entry of unauthorized individuals, including YouTubers, into the Parliament House. This development, reported exclusively by ARY News, comes in response to recent breaches in security protocols.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Speaker Sadiq has suspended eight security personnel allegedly responsible for allowing unauthorized individuals access to Parliament House. These security personnel were stationed at the inner gates of the parliamentary premises.
The suspension follows an incident where unauthorized individuals were reported to have stopped members and ministers inside Parliament, seeking photographs. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif brought the matter to the Speaker’s attention after experiencing the breach firsthand.
Minister Asif emphasized the critical need for stringent security measures within the National Assembly building and its adjacent areas. He highlighted concerns regarding the presence of unidentified individuals loitering in various parts of the building, including entrance points, corridors, and gallery areas.
Addressing his fellow parliamentarians, Minister Asif underscored the importance of reinstating a robust pass issuance system for Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) to uphold security standards effectively. He voiced apprehension over disruptive activities, such as slogan chanting, by individuals present in the gallery, emphasizing the need to preserve the dignity and sanctity of the parliamentary proceedings.
Minister Asif reiterated that the National Assembly serves as the apex legislative forum and should not be subjected to disruptions or unauthorized demonstrations. The imposition of the ban reflects a concerted effort to fortify security measures and uphold the integrity of Pakistan’s parliamentary democracy.
As the investigation into the security breach unfolds, the Sergeant-at-Arms has been tasked with conducting a thorough inquiry to ascertain accountability and prevent future lapses in security.
