Pakistan celebrates ‘Takbeer Day’ marking invincible defence

In the annals of history, there are pivotal moments that define the destiny of nations. For Pakistan, such a moment occurred on May 28, 1998, a day that forever altered the course of its history and established its standing as a formidable nuclear power.

The genesis of this historic day traces back to May 11, 1998, when India detonated a series of nuclear weapons, dramatically shifting the balance of power in South Asia. This aggressive move threatened regional stability and challenged Pakistan’s sovereignty.

In a bold and decisive response, just 17 days later, Pakistan conducted its own nuclear tests in the Chagai district of Balochistan. The detonation of six nuclear devices on May 28, 1998, not only restored the balance of power but also instilled a profound sense of pride among the Muslim Ummah. The mountains of Chagai, changing colors and enveloped in rising dust, bore witness to Pakistan’s entry into the exclusive club of nuclear-armed nations.

This act of defiance and strength was a significant blow to India’s aspirations and solidified Pakistan’s position on the global stage. May 28 is commemorated annually as ‘Youm-e-Takbeer’ or the ‘Day of Greatness,’ symbolizing Pakistan’s unyielding resolve and invincible defense.

The achievement was a result of unified national effort. Despite facing intense opposition from major global powers, the Pakistan Army, the political leadership, and the populace stood resolutely together. This collective determination ensured the country’s defense was rendered impregnable on that historic day.

Today, as Pakistan celebrates the ‘Takbeer Day’, the armed forces continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people, ready to confront any threat. The enduring spirit of unity and resilience remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s defense strategy, ensuring the nation remains steadfast against all adversities.

This day, etched as a proud medal on the nation’s chest, distinguishes Pakistan in the world and serves as a reminder of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and peace.
