Eidul Azha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is a significant festival for Muslims worldwide. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The observance is marked by the ritual slaughter of animals, typically goats, sheep, cows, or camels. The meat from these sacrifices is distributed among family, friends, and the less fortunate, ensuring that all members of the community can partake in the celebrations.
This year, the faithful are expected to begin their sacrifices on June 17, continuing the tradition for the three days of Eid. The PMD’s forecast provides ample time for preparations and ensures that communities can plan their observances accordingly.
Eidul Azha is one of the two major Islamic festivals, alongside Eidul Fitr, and holds profound religious significance, fostering a sense of solidarity and charity among Muslims.
