The first images of Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai’s cameo in the critically acclaimed British comedy “We Are Lady Parts” have been released, promising viewers a delightful surprise. The show, created by Nida Manzoor, chronicles the adventures of a Muslim women’s punk band and has garnered significant praise for its unique storyline and vibrant characters.
In the newly released images, Malala is seen draped in a striking blue gown and perched atop a horse, her look completed with a cowgirl hat, signaling an intriguing and unexpected twist for the upcoming season.
After a highly successful debut season, “We Are Lady Parts” returns for its second season on May 30. Joining the original cast members Anjana Vasan (known for “Wicked Little Letters” and “Black Mirror”), Sarah Kameela Impey (“Vera,” “Halcyon Heights”), Juliette Motamed (“Halo,” “Magic Mike’s Last Dance”), Faith Omole (“An Ideal Husband,” “Endeavour”), and Lucie Shorthouse (“Rebus,” “Henpocalypse!”), Malala’s cameo adds a new layer of excitement to the series.
Season two picks up with the band embarking on a renewed artistic mission after the high of their first UK tour, only to face challenges from a rival band. This new dynamic forces the group to confront the realities of their pursuit of success, leading them to question their true desires within the music industry.
In an earlier interview, creator Nida Manzoor shared insights about the new season, which draws heavily from her own experiences. “The new season will delve deeper into the interior lives of all the women on the show, each facing new, existential challenges with all the silliness, pratfalls, and banter of season one,” she explained.
The music, a hallmark of the show, promises to be even more engaging in the new season. “The music is bigger too – more wild original tunes (penned by me and my siblings) and, dare I say it, even better covers,” Manzoor added.
“We Are Lady Parts” has been celebrated for its fresh perspective and compelling narrative, offering a mix of humor and heart. All six episodes of the first season are available for streaming on Peacock and Channel 4 in the UK. The show is produced by Working Title Television (WTTV), part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Fans of the show eagerly await Malala’s performance and the new musical adventures of the punk band, anticipating another season filled with laughter, music, and thought-provoking moments.
