In a momentous occasion for aviation development in Pakistan, the Flight Calibration and Flight Procedure Design for the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIAP) achieved a major milestone with the successful test landing of a Calibration Aircraft on the newly constructed runway.
The event, saw the Calibration Aircraft greeted with a traditional water cannon salute by the Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) upon its arrival at the airport.
This significant accomplishment underscores the collaborative efforts between the Chinese and Pakistani project teams, who have been working tirelessly to bring the NGIAP to fruition. The airport, which is slated for completion and operation in the fourth quarter of this year, represents a vital piece of infrastructure for the region.
The dedication and expertise of the Chinese Project Team, led by Mr. Ding Kan PD-CACC, have been instrumental in advancing the project from its inception to this pivotal moment. Similarly, the leadership of Director General Airport Services and former project director NGIAP, Sadiq Ur Rehman, along with officials of the PCAA, have been indispensable in driving progress on the ground.
Furthermore, the Technical Directorates of PCAA and the Flight Inspection Unit (FIU) have played a critical role in ensuring the project stays on track and meets rigorous standards within a tight timeframe.
The completion of the NGIAP is poised to have a transformative impact on the economic development of Gwadar and its surrounding areas. It promises to improve connectivity, facilitate trade, and enhance the overall quality of life for the people of Balochistan Province and the Coastal Region.
