Pakistan Railways announces 25% fare reduction for Eid-ul-Azha

In a move set to bring joy to many, Pakistan Railways has announced a generous 25% reduction in fares for passengers traveling during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festivities. This discount will apply to all classes of regular passenger trains, enhancing the accessibility and affordability of rail travel across the country.

The initiative is designed to facilitate citizens in celebrating Eid with their loved ones, making travel more affordable for a broader segment of the population. However, it is important to note that this discount will not be applicable to the special Eid trains that may be operated during the holiday period.

The discounted fares will be available exclusively for current bookings, offering passengers the opportunity to secure their train tickets at reduced rates. Additionally, the reduced fares will be available on all three days of Eid-ul-Azha, ensuring that the benefits extend throughout the festive period.

“We are delighted to announce this significant fare reduction as part of our commitment to serving the people of Pakistan,” stated a Pakistan Railways spokesperson. “By making rail travel more accessible and affordable, we hope to contribute to the joy and celebration of Eid for our passengers.”

This announcement follows a previous reduction in train fares on May 21, 2024, when the Railways Department responded to a decline in diesel prices by lowering fares across various classes. That reduction, which was effective immediately upon announcement, applied to train journeys ranging from one to 200 kilometers for all classes, with notable reductions in the economy and AC classes.

With this latest fare reduction, Pakistan Railways continues its efforts to support the public and enhance the travel experience during one of the most significant festivals of the year.
