Security forces achieve significant success against terrorism in ongoing operations

In a series of coordinated efforts, Pakistan’s security forces have dealt a significant blow to terrorism across several provinces, successfully thwarting nefarious plans and eliminating a substantial number of terrorists linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Since Eid-ul-Fitr, a period spanning from April 1 to June 10, 2024, security forces have conducted 7,745 operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh. These operations have resulted in the elimination of 181 terrorists, underscoring the effectiveness of Pakistan’s intelligence and counter-terrorism strategies.

According to official reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessed the highest number of operations with 2,701 conducted, followed by Balochistan with 4,902 operations, and Sindh with 142 operations. During the month of May alone, security forces successfully neutralized 12 terrorists in Balochistan and 42 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, 61 terrorists were apprehended across both provinces.

The efforts were not confined to land operations alone. Security forces also prevented at least 20 infiltration attempts in the volatile border regions of Bajaur, Dir, and Chitral, highlighting their vigilance and proactive approach in safeguarding national borders.

The operations have dealt a severe blow to the TTP, disrupting their activities significantly, especially in urban areas where their attempts to execute plans have been thwarted. In response to their setbacks, the TTP has resorted to desperate measures such as targeting and kidnapping vulnerable individuals in tribal regions to regain influence.

A notable success for the security forces was the dismantling of a TTP network in Bisham that was targeting Chinese citizens, reflecting the international dimension of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts.

Intelligence-based operations have proven particularly effective, with 12 terrorists eliminated in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, and another 19 terrorists neutralized in North Waziristan during similar operations.

These achievements underscore Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability within its borders. The successful operations against the TTP and other terrorist elements not only disrupt their capabilities but also bolster confidence in Pakistan’s security measures. The ongoing efforts reflect a robust strategy that continues to protect Pakistan and its people from the threat of terrorism.
