Sikh pilgrims reach Nankana Sahib for Ranjit Singh’s anniversary

More than 450 Indian Sikh pilgrims have arrived in Pakistan to participate in the 185th anniversary celebrations of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. On Monday morning, the pilgrims reached Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak, marking the beginning of their three-day religious journey.

Upon arrival, the pilgrims were met with a warm and respectful reception from the local community. “The love of the Pakistani people draws us here,” one pilgrim said, reflecting the positive sentiments shared by many in the group. “It feels great to be here,” another added, praising the hospitality extended to them.

To ensure the pilgrims’ safety and comfort, the Pakistani government has made extensive arrangements. Special security measures have been implemented, along with comprehensive sanitation, accommodation, transport facilities, and the provision of langar (community meals).

“The hospitality of the people here won our hearts,” one visitor remarked, underscoring the warmth and generosity they experienced.

During their stay, the pilgrims will perform various religious rituals at Nankana Sahib and visit other holy sites. They are scheduled to leave today for Gurdwara Sacha Sauda, where they will continue their religious observances.

The 185th anniversary celebrations of Maharaja Ranjit Singh hold deep significance for Sikhs worldwide. Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire, is revered for his contributions to the Sikh community and his efforts to promote religious harmony.

Authorities have taken special care to ensure the occasion is marked with the respect and solemnity it deserves. “Special security arrangements were made on the occasion of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s death anniversary,” an official noted, emphasizing the importance of the event and the commitment to making it a memorable experience for the pilgrims.
