The Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Usman Ghani is being observed today, 18 Dhu al-Hijjah, 25 June 2024, across the country with great devotion and respect.
Hazrat Usman bin Affan Radiyallahu Anhu, known for his perfect modesty and faith, was the third Caliph of Islam. His name was Usman, his surname was Abu Abdullah and Abu Umar, and his title was Zul-Nurain. Born to Affan bin Abi Al-Aas of the Banu Umayyah, a branch of the Quraysh tribe in Makkah, Hazrat Usman (RA) is venerated among the predecessors and is one of the Ashra Mubashara. He is also honored as one of the Companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), revered in the Muslim Ummah with titles reflecting his complete modesty and faith.
During the critical peace negotiations at Hudaybiyah, Hazrat Usman played a pivotal role as an ambassador, conveying the Prophet’s (PBUH) message to the Quraysh, displaying utmost courage and loyalty. His most significant contribution to Islam was the collection and compilation of the Qur’an. Tragically, on 18 Dhu al-Hijjah 35 AH, Hazrat Usman was martyred amid a great conspiracy, the first and most significant in Islamic history, while reciting the Qur’an at home, having fasted for several days.
Today, his martyrdom is remembered with solemn ceremonies, reflecting on his enduring legacy and the profound impact of his leadership on the Muslim Ummah.
