In a significant move to enhance convenience for the citizens, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a project for the free home delivery of goods from model markets. She has also instructed the development of a mobile app to facilitate online orders.
Under this initiative, model markets will be transitioned to the Green Punjab Solar Model. The Chief Minister has directed the bureaucracy to establish a model market within a year, aiming to provide a more sustainable and efficient shopping experience for the public.
Maryam Nawaz has emphasized the importance of ensuring that vegetables and fruits are sold below the fixed prices in these model markets. Additionally, she has mandated that only the best quality fruits and vegetables be available for sale, underscoring her commitment to providing affordable and high-quality produce to the people of Punjab.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need for continuous monitoring of quality and inflation in model markets. “Model markets are for the common man, and in every case, one should get something good to eat,” she stated.
The Chairman of the Model Bazaar Management Company, Afzal Khokhar, recently met with Maryam Nawaz to brief her on the progress of the Model Bazaar project. During the meeting, she announced that Rs35 billion has been allocated for the development of Lahore, indicating a substantial investment in the city’s infrastructure and public services.
This initiative reflects the Punjab government’s dedication to improving the standard of living for its citizens by making essential goods more accessible and affordable.
