It is stated in the Election Act Amendment Bill that the party which has not given the list of reserved seats to the Election Commission cannot be given reserved seats.
The Election Act Amendment Bill was presented in the National Assembly, which the Speaker sent to the relevant Standing Committee.
The National Assembly session was chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. Legislative Member Bilal Azhar Kiyani presented the Election Act Amendment Bill in the House. On this occasion, the opposition opposed the bill and raised slogans.
Speaker National Assembly sent the bill to the concerned Standing Committee. On the other hand, Geo News has obtained a copy of the Election Amendment Act 2024.
Two amendments are being introduced in the Election Amendment Act 2024. The first amendment was introduced in section 66 of the Election Act, 2017, and the second amendment was introduced in section 104 of the Election Act, 2017.
The first amendment states that the declaration of affiliation with a political party cannot be changed.
In the second amendment, it is said that the party which has not given the list of reserved seats to the Election Commission cannot be given reserved seats.
According to the Amendment Act 2024, both these amendments will come into force immediately after their approval.
