Internet services across Pakistan have been severely disrupted, with the root cause of the issue still under investigation. Authorities are working diligently to assess the situation and pinpoint the source of the widespread outage.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the disruption may be linked to international traffic rather than local network issues. In a curious twist, Meta platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram remain fully operational, unaffected by the disruption that has left much of the country offline.
Nayatel, a prominent internet service provider, has reported that its services are largely unaffected. While some minor connectivity issues were observed in southern cities, these have been swiftly resolved. Meanwhile, the northern network, which includes major cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Faisalabad, has experienced no disruptions.
The inconsistent service outages among different ISPs indicate that the problem might be isolated to specific networks or regions. While some ISPs continue to face significant issues, others report normal operations, adding to the complexity of the situation.
Officials from Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) have identified a fault in the underground submarine cable as a potential cause of the nationwide disruption. According to PTCL sources, this fault has significantly impacted internet services across the country, though efforts are ongoing to restore full connectivity.
