Heavy rains and flash floods have killed 24 people in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) region over the past three days, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The bad weather has caused a lot of damage to homes and property. Among the dead are six men, six women, and 12 children. Seventeen people have been injured, including eight men, three women, and six children.
The floods and rain have affected many areas, including Kohat, Bajaur, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swat, Charsadda, Swabi, Mohmand, South Waziristan, and Hangu.
The PDMA’s report shows that 150 homes have been damaged. Of these, 77 homes are partially damaged, and 73 homes are completely destroyed.
The bad weather has caused a lot of problems. Roads are blocked, and machinery is being used to clear them. Rescue operations are ongoing, with local authorities and relief teams working hard to help people.
People are advised not to travel to tourist spots until the weather gets better. Residents are urged to be very careful.
The PDMA, together with other agencies and local authorities, is watching the situation closely to make sure help is given where needed.
The Emergency Operation Centre is open, and the public can call 1700 for information about the weather, road closures, and advice.
