Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), will hold a press conference today at 3 pm. The conference will take place at the General Headquarters and will discuss the security situation in Pakistan.
This press conference comes a few weeks after Lt. Gen. Chaudhry previously spoke about “militants and digital terrorists,” emphasizing the sacrifices of the armed forces in combating terrorism. He also highlighted the issue of digital terrorism on social media and urged the nation to stand united against such threats.
In his last appearance, Lt. Gen. Chaudhry explained that serious national issues were being politicized. He mentioned “Azm-e-Istehkam,” a comprehensive counter-terrorism campaign, clarifying that it is not just a military operation.
Today’s press conference follows an attack on a security convoy carrying judges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa two days ago, which resulted in the death of two policemen.
According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Pakistan experienced 380 fatalities and 220 injuries due to 240 terror attacks and counter-terror operations in the second quarter of 2024. Most of these incidents occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which together accounted for nearly 92% of all fatalities and 87% of the attacks.
Lt. Gen. Chaudhry’s address is highly anticipated as it will provide insights into the current security challenges and the measures being taken to address them.
