In a recent announcement, the National Highway Authority (NHA) declared that only vehicles with M-Tags will soon be allowed to enter motorways across Pakistan. This decision, announced on Friday, is part of the government’s plan to improve toll collection efficiency and reduce travel time for motorists.
The NHA has issued new guidelines stating that all vehicles must be equipped with M-Tags to access the motorways. For public convenience, the NHA spokesperson noted that M-Tags are being provided free of charge until August 15, giving motorists the opportunity to get their vehicles tagged without any cost.
The M-Tag system is designed to make toll payments quicker and more convenient. By using M-Tags, travelers can avoid delays at toll plazas, saving both time and money. This system also ensures that toll payments are processed digitally, allowing for more transparent and efficient use of collected funds.
Starting on August 16, the M-Tag requirement will first be enforced on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M-11). The NHA plans to gradually extend this requirement to all motorways across the country. This move is expected to enhance the overall experience for motorway users and ensure smoother operations on Pakistan’s highways.
