Islamabad’s Excise & Taxation (E&T) department has announced important changes to the rules for vehicle registration and number plates. These changes will affect fees and penalties for those who do not comply with the new standards.
According to a spokesperson for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, the new regulations are aimed at standardizing vehicle registration and number plates across the city.
One of the major changes is that vehicles with non-standard number plates will have their registration canceled. Owners of these vehicles will need to pay a re-registration fee to meet the new standards.
The re-registration fees are as follows:
– Vehicles with engines up to 1,000 cc: Rs 5,000
– Vehicles with engines between 1,000 cc and 2,000 cc: Rs 10,000
– Vehicles with engines above 2,000 cc: Rs 20,000
– Motorcycles: Rs 1,000
The rules also include stricter penalties for repeat offenders. If a vehicle is found to violate the new rules more than once, the owner will have to pay five times the original re-registration fee.
These changes are intended to ensure that all vehicles in Islamabad comply with updated regulations and maintain standardized registration.
