Arshad Nadeem, who recently made history by winning Pakistan’s first gold medal in 40 years at the Paris Olympics, is now facing a tax inquiry from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The javelin thrower achieved a remarkable 92.97 meters, setting a new Olympic record.
Various political and social figures have announced monetary rewards for Nadeem in recognition of his achievement. However, before Nadeem even receives these prizes, the FBR has indicated that a significant portion will be taxed.
Reports suggest that individuals who file their taxes regularly will need to pay 15% of their prize money as tax, while those who do not file taxes will be required to pay 30%.
