Over 31,000 motorcycles stolen or snatched in Karachi

In the first seven months of this year, crime in the city remained very high, with more than 44,000 cases reported. A report by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) shared alarming numbers. Over 31,000 motorcycles were stolen or snatched in the city. More than 1,000 cars were also stolen or snatched in the same period.

Additionally, over 11,000 mobile phones were taken from people. The report also mentioned 12 cases of kidnapping for ransom and 57 incidents of extortion.

A performance report from Karachi’s Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Akhtar Odho showed that last week, police had 31 encounters with criminals. During these encounters, three robbers were killed, 34 were injured, and 50 suspects were arrested.

Overall, the police arrested more than 732 people last week. They also seized large amounts of drugs, including 107.83 kilograms of hashish and 1.16 grams of ice (crystal meth). The police recovered 108 illegal weapons and took 29 motorcycles into custody.
