Man Awarded for Rescuing Family During Flooding in Killa Abdullah

An excavator operator named Mohibullah has been celebrated for his bravery after saving a family trapped in severe flooding in Killa Abdullah, Pakistan. His heroic actions have earned him cash rewards and a scholarship for his son.

Just a few days ago, Mohibullah saved five members of a family whose vehicle was caught in a flash flood in the Toba Achakzai neighborhood. Despite the danger, he courageously carried out the rescue on his own, risking his life in the process.

In recognition of his bravery, the Quetta corps commander awarded Mohibullah Rs 0.5 million in cash. Additionally, the Balochistan government announced a scholarship for his son under the Balochistan Education Programme.

When the flood hit, many people were too scared to help the family stuck in the water. But Mohibullah did not hesitate. He rode his bike home, returned with an excavator, and skillfully maneuvered the machine to bring the stranded vehicle and its passengers to safety. A video of the daring rescue, which has been widely shared on social media, shows Mohibullah deftly operating the excavator to pull the family to dry land.

People from all over the country have praised Mohibullah for his courage. The Chairman of Hilal-e-Ahmar Balochistan, Abdul Wali Khan Ghabizai, and Zamrak Khan Achakzai, a member of the Balochistan Assembly from the Awami National Party (ANP), each announced a reward of Rs 0.2 million for the brave operator. Achakzai also promised to host a special event in Mohibullah’s honor when he arrives in Quetta.

During an event at his office, Killa Abdullah Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Farooq also presented Mohibullah with a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize.

Speaking to a private media house, Mohibullah recounted the tense moments of the rescue. “When I reached near the vehicle, I heard children crying,” he said. “I thought I would at least try to rescue the family if I could not pull the vehicle out of the flood. Allah blessed me with unseen help to save the family.”

Mohibullah mentioned that the vehicle’s owner wanted to give him all the money he had as a reward, but he refused, saying he acted for the sake of Allah. His selflessness and bravery have made him a local hero and an example of courage in the face of adversity.
