In a stunning collapse, Mongolia’s national cricket team was dismissed for just 10 runs in a T20 International match against Singapore, setting a new record for the second-lowest total ever in men’s T20I cricket. The match, part of the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A, took place in Bangi and echoed Mongolia’s earlier struggles in the format.
This dismal performance tied the previous record for the second-lowest total set by the Isle of Man against Spain in 2023. Mongolia’s batting lineup fell apart dramatically, with their entire innings lasting only 10 overs, including three maidens. Five of their batters failed to score, and the longest partnerships, for the fourth and last wickets, lasted just 11 balls each.
Singapore’s 17-year-old leg-spinner, Harsha Bharadwaj, spearheaded the bowling attack with a spectacular spell. Bharadwaj took six wickets for just three runs in his four overs, marking the second-best bowling figures ever recorded in men’s T20Is. His dominance was evident from the start, as he claimed two wickets in the very first over, setting the tone for Mongolia’s collapse.
Just months before, Mongolia had been bowled out for 12 against Japan, which was then the second-lowest total in T20I history. Their latest performance has now reset the benchmark for futility in international cricket.
Singapore wasted no time in chasing down the modest target of 11 runs. Despite losing a wicket on the first ball, they achieved the victory in just five deliveries. Raoul Sharma hit a six off his first ball, and William Simpson wrapped up the game with a four, leaving 115 balls remaining.
With this victory, Singapore now holds three of the four lowest totals in men’s T20I history, all recorded in 2024.
